Nurture in the DEN

The DEN - Developing, Enabling and Nurturing pupils at St Mary Cray Primary Academy

At St Mary Cray Primary Academy we are proud to offer a range of enrichment activities, interventions and mentoring sessions that benefit pupils in a range of different ways, in addition to the national curriculum.

Through our DEN (Develop, Enable, Nurture) our pupils have the opportunity to enjoy cookery, art, music appreciation and drama along with developing their friendship skills and strategies to help them through school life and beyond.

The DEN team are Mrs Rolfe and Mrs De Castro who offer the following sessions;

Social Skills - to develop skills for children who struggle to form or maintain friendships.
Pod Squad - to enable a range of social skills that help build confidence, communication skills and self-esteem.

Drama Workshops - to develop speech and language and build confidence.

Year Six interventions - to enable smooth transition to secondary school, road sense, team building)

Individual Mentoring - to nurture individuals across KS1 and KS2 and tailored to suit their specific needs (anger management, self-esteem, emotional strategies)

Coupled with targeted sessions, the DEN also offers opportunities for all children across KS2 to access enrichment activities each term.

Additionally, we are fortunate to have weekly access to a Play Therapist and Counsellor who work with children to promote good mental health and wellbeing.
