Julie Covill - Chair of Local Committee Trust appointed

I am a mum and an accountant who has now been a governor for eight years, previously at my children's primary school.

I am proud and excited to be involved with this school because it's making such a great difference to the children in this community.  The senior leaders are a committed and resourceful group who will not settle for second best for your children.  The school has developed a culture where success is likely because quality teaching and support is provided both in and out of the classroom, resilience is specifically nurtured and learning and achievement are celebrated.

Adam Lowing - Headteacher

Before teaching I studied Law and then had a career in business consultancy. However I wanted to impact positively with young people and so entered education. As a result of my work in different Bromley schools, I became a Specialist Leader in Education.

Previously to being Head at SMCPA, I was Assistant Head at Hayes Primary with responsibility for achievement. I am a parent myself with three young daughters. I believe strongly in providing opportunities for every child to achieve not only academically but also in their personal development. I am very pleased and proud to be part of St Mary Cray Primary. This is my third year of headship now at the school and we have come so far together as a school community but I know we have the aspirations and capacity to develop even further.

Ian Raitt - Director & Vice Chair of Local Governing Body

Born and educated in Scotland, I am a retired scientific civil servant.  My wife and I have lived in Bromley for over twenty five years and our two sons attended local schools. I believe strongly in the importance of good primary education and am pleased to play a part with the other governors in achieving this at St Mary Cray Primary Academy. I am the Safeguarding Governor for the school and I sit on the Achievement and Curriculum Committee.

I find the school always has a purposeful atmosphere. Children are challenged and encouraged to work hard so they have a firm foundation for their continuing education and future career. The ethos is one of nurture and support. Children are given lots of opportunities to see what life has to offer, and to develop their own personalities, self-respect and respect for others. They are articulate and always keen to tell you what they are doing.

Dr Colm Lonergan - Local Committee Member  - Trust appointed

My professional background is as an Educational and Child Psychologist. I am a new governor and can see the strong progress children at St. Mary Cray are achieving.

The quality of teaching has been consistently good and this is seen through the positive views children have expressed when we have asked their views. Teachers I recently met are all approachable and have high expectations for all the children. The school leaders are exceptionally hardworking and reflective, always looking for ways to improve their practice. Mr Lowing has driven high expectations for both pupils and staff and in my opinion, this is well reflected throughout the school at all levels. A real cuture of excellent outcomes for all children, whether that be academic or social is celebrated. I feel that St Mary Cray Primary Academy is aiming high to provide an excellent education for all its pupils and this is being reflected in the above national average results over the last few years. I am the SEN/D Governor for the school and I sit on the Achievement and Curriculum Committee
