Forest School

Outdoor learning is very important to us at St Mary Cray.  We have two fantastic Forest Schools.  One on our own site, and the other at another Trust school which we get to visit regularly.

Our on-site Forest School is run by a qualified Forest School leader.  We offer cross-curricular learning to children across the year groups from Reception upwards, including working with tools, having fires and creating art.

Learning to work together, help and support each other, problem solve and take (supervised, calculated) risks are vital parts of children learning.

Children in Reception are provided with waterproof trousers and jackets, as well as wellies.  Older year groups should provide their own wet/cold weather clothes as we go out in all weathers!

In the last year with the help of parents we have planted 60 saplings.  We are waiting to see how many survive the winter.
