Hello Parents!

At St Mary Cray Primary Academy we base our Literacy planning on the Power of Reading and use the phonics scheme Read Write Inc to embed early reading and writing skills. We follow the Maths Mastery scheme in Numeracy and we follow the Core Curriculum when teaching foundation subjects such as History and Geography. We put our pupils at the centre of our curriculum and always start with the child when planning; using the children’s previous knowledge, experiences and interests to motivate, challenge and engage them. If you have any questions about the curriculum or what your child will be learning this year, please do not hesitate to ask, or have a look at the Curriculum tab under 'Learning Excellence'.

Outdoor Learning  forms and integral part of our pupils' learning at St Mary Cray Primary Academy.  Children have access to a trim trail, large grassy field, allotment and, via our partner school, a swimming pool and Forest School.

A Message From Mr Coy:

This year we will be very busy in Year 4. Myself and Mrs Carrick will strive to offer an inspiring curriculum and will devote our time to giving your children a fun, broad and engaging learning experience that will be seen both indoors and out.

We very much look forward to working with your children this term. In Year 4, your child will have access to more challenging texts, including Varjak Paw and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. We will also be looking at lots of interesting topic subjects, starting with Rivers in Geography and Sound in Science. We cannot wait to share in the successes of your children with you. The door is always open, so do not hesitate to reach out to us for anything.

Thank you for your continued support!

Mr Coy and Mrs Carrick
