EYFS Open Days - dates have now passed

Whole Class Reading

Upon graduating from the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme, children are taught reading through daily whole-class reading lessons. These sessions build progressively, focusing on:

  • Understanding themes
  • Clarifying key vocabulary
  • Developing comprehension through inference and retrieval

Children will bring home a reading book from the school library or KS2 Reading scheme, which offers a range of genres. Children are guided to select books appropriate to their reading level that will expose them to a range of rich and diverse texts which will foster and develop their love of reading.
