The Primary PE and Sport Premium was introduced in March 2013 to improve the provision of physical education and school sport in primary schools across England. The £150 million per year funding is provided jointly by the Departments for Education, Health, and Culture, Media and Sport (DfE, DH, DCMS). The funding is allocated directly to primary schools and is ring-fenced. This means it may only be spent on improving the provision of PE and sport in schools. In February 2014 the government committed to continue the funding until 2020.
Annually, we receive £16,000 plus £10 per pupil on roll and have done since 2017/2018; before this we were entitled to £8000 plus £5 per pupil. This funding is ring-fenced to ensure that in impacts directly on the development of subject knowledge, skill acquisition, agility, balance, co-ordination and physical fitness of the pupils here. We aim to use the funding, in it`s entirety, to raise the profile of PE and Sport throughout the school and produce a sustainable legacy that will benefit the pupils of this school for many years to come.
