Year 5 Homework

At St Mary Cray Primary Academy we feel it is important for children to be set engaging homework that gives them opportunities to practice and consolidate the learning that has taken place at school (across a range of subjects).

Weekly Homework

Homework is linked to the learning that you have done in class and each piece of homework should take between 20 and 30 minutes to complete.

Homework will be to learn their spellings - we advise putting these into sentences and discussing the meanings. In addition to this please practice the times tables with your child in preparation for their weekly test.

Year 5 homework will be issued on a Friday and is due in the following Friday. Homework tasks will be glued in before children leave school, however if your child is absent on a Friday please speak to their class teacher so we can issue this during the week.

Please listen to your child read every night and sign their reading record to reflect this.

Homework Club

Homework club runs on a Tuesday and Thursday after school and is for children who may struggle to complete homework at home. Attendance at the club is by invitation only, but please speak to your class teacher if you think that you might benefit from this. It is your responsibility to make sure you hand your homework in on time to your teacher.

Sometimes project based learning will be set to help you learn about a new topic that you will be starting at school. This homework will normally be given over a holiday or half term.
